Liu Xiaoli

Former deputy director of the Centre for Energy Economics and Development Strategy of the Energy Research Institute (ERI) under the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Professor Liu Xiaoli continues to act as deputy secretary general of the Petroleum Economics Committee of the Chinese Petroleum Society. She is also a member of several energy-related societies and institutes, including the China Institute for Geopolitics and Energy Strategy, the China Energy Research Society, and the Beijing Energy Society.
Professor Liu Xiaoli graduated in 1988 from the Beijing Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development. In 1993, she joined the ERI/NDRC and was engaged in research related to oil and gas economy and policy, energy strategy and planning, energy policies, energy supply and demand forecasts, and applied energy models. Between June 2004 and March 2006 she was assigned by the NDRC to the Asia-Pacific Energy Research Centre to carry out research on the Asia-Pacific region's energy policy and energy demand and supply. She has participated in around 70 research and cooperation projects, including eight research topics on national energy strategy and reform that were awarded several scientific progress prizes from the NDRC, the Academy of Microeconomics Research and the National Energy Administration. Professor Liu Xiaoli has published over 60 articles in Chinese and foreign magazines, journals and conference proceedings.
