Urban Sustainability and Green Economy: Chinese and European Practices
The Europe–China Clean Energy Centre (EC2) offers a flexible framework for interactive
capacity building for Chinese and European high-level officials and key stakeholders.
The lectures delivered during the third two-day distance learning training were
broadcast from the premises of the Regional Environmental Center (REC) in Hungary
and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Training Centre satellite
teaching point in Beijing to over 20 NDRC Training Centre satellite teaching points
throughout China. This website allows European stakeholders to access the
presentations and videos.
EC2 was founded in April 2010 by the European Commission, the National Energy Administration (NEA) of China and
the Ministry of Commerce of China, with the support of the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea. It is
managed by a consortium of nine partners—six European and three Chinese—led by Politecnico di Torino (Italy).
By supporting technological cooperation, providing policy advisory services, building
capacity and raising awareness, the ultimate goal of the five-year EC2 project is to promote
the use of clean energy in China, thus contributing to Chinese government efforts to shape
a more sustainable, environmentally friendly and efficient energy sector.
